新香港六合彩官网开奖 University will host a public lecture by Dr. Younus Mirza, co-author of The Bible and the Qur'an: Biblical Figures in the Islamic Tradition. Mizra鈥檚 lecture, 鈥淭he Sacrifice: The Story of Abraham's/Ibrahim's Sacrifice and Its Relevance Today,鈥 is free and open to the public. It is co-sponsored by the 新香港六合彩官网开奖 University School of Humanities and CERIS, the Consortium for Educational Resources on Islamic Studies.

The lecture will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in Roome 156 of the The Joanne Woodyard Boyle Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Mizra鈥檚 lecture, 鈥淭he Sacrifice: The Story of Abraham's/Ibrahim's Sacrifice and Its Relevance Today,鈥 will discuss how Abraham鈥檚 story remains relevant within interfaith dialogue today; the ways the "Abrahamic" faiths in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam understand this common ancestor of faith; and how we can best represent the theological boundaries among religious groups.

Dr. Younus Y. Mirza is a Visiting Researcher at Georgetown University and Scholar in Residence at Shenandoah University.聽 He defended his dissertation in Arabic and Islamic Studies from Georgetown University in 2012 and has taught at Millsaps and Allegheny Colleges.聽 His current research focuses on the relationship between the Bible and the Qur鈥檃n and the shared stories between them. He is a co-author of the book The Bible and the Qur鈥檃n: Biblical Figures in the Islamic Tradition and has published in various journals such as the Journal of the American Academy of Religion (JAAR), the Journal of Qur鈥檃nic Studies (JQS) and Islam Christian-Muslim Relations. He teaches courses on the Qur鈥檃n, Islamic Movements, Biblical and Qur鈥檃nic Prophets, and Islam and Other Religions.
